VIII International Folk Dance camp in Kārķi
From Aug. 20 to 23, 2009. Kārķu Tautas nams (Valka region Kārķi parish)
The program consists of Latvian, Livonian, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Estonian and Belorussian traditional dances, a short introduction to the foundations of traditional singing, line dancing, ancient, French, and possibly, sacral, dance.
Kārķi is located approx. 160 km from Rīga, between the towns of Rūjiena and Valka.
Arrival at the camp location, registration at Kārķu Tautas nams and settling in at the Kārķi school August 20th, from 19:00-21:00
Transportation with personal transport, or by bus, 13:35 Rīga-Rūjiena and 17:15 Rūjiena-Kārķi. For other times and modes of public transportation see: www.1188.lv.
Meals served 3 times a day for the total price of 4 lats per day. Payment has to be done at the registration.
Sleeping is planned in the Kārķi school building, on the floor. Please bring necessary sleeping equipment (mattresses, sleeping bags, etc.) Showers available.
Participation fee LVL 15,- for those applying before August 17; LVL 20, – for those applying from August 18.
50% off for previous dance camp participants, as well as Rīga, Cēsis, Ventspils, Valmiera, Jelgava, Tartu, Tallinn, Vilnius and other Baltic Folk Dance club members. Payment has to be done at the registration.
Additional information: Youth who are not 18 years old yet, must be accompanied by an adult (for example the leader of the group, a parent, or by the parent’s authorized person). In this case, the authorized person must attach an application as well as the authorization by the parents.
Don’t forget to bring comfortable shoes for the dance floor.
